He was already an active officer in the Indonesian National Police, assigned to Ditpamobvit — the directorate responsible for security at vital tourist objects including the Ijen Crater area. Managing the guesthouse meant he saw both sides of East Java volcano tourism: the visitor experience and the operational safety gaps.
